Sports Massage Therapist
Darcel holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Dance with a Double Major in Kinesiology and Health Science from York University in Toronto, Canada. She also holds a Level 3 in Sports Massage Therapy and is fully insured by the Federation of Holistic Therapists. Her treatments include sports/deep tissue massage and pregnancy massage. She has treated clients from various walks of life including West End Performers and athletes.
Her work as a massage therapist is influenced by her own career as a dancer and West end performer, having found that regular sports massage therapy played a significant role in injury prevention and aiding rehabilitation. Her career in dance has provided her with a sound understanding of the dancer’s body and the various mechanisms that can result in imbalance and injury.
Through her treatment of non-performers she has come to understand the effects that day to day activities, for example sitting at a desk or carrying a baby, can have on muscular balance and function, and how massage can aid in restoring them both. Clients who engage in regular exercise, as well as athletes, have also benefitted from her treatments through the release of tight, overused muscles, thus restoring balance and improving function.
Darcel aims to provide her clients with pain relief, improved muscular function, efficiency and balance and overall relaxation.
